Your Local Garden Center Is Calling

Isn’t it great that Spring is in the air. I can think of nothing better than visiting the local garden centres in Spring. This year I intend to do a lot of research online at places like Tesco Garden Furniture for my garden products.
Annuals and perennials are an important part of all UK garden centres stock. The implications of choosing one or the other without fully understanding the specific characteristics of that plant can sometimes have unexpected or undesirable consequences.
You will find that perennials could be large plants like trees but also small dainty flowers so you cannot rely on the size of the plant as the main factor in picking perennials.
Many perennials will come with old fashioned names and are the more traditional side of the modern garden centre. If perennials are the timeless elements of your garden, annuals are the trendy, showy brash elements that can easily be varied as your tastes. Winter will kill your annuals as they cannot survive the cold weather and you will need to plant again the following Spring.
Amazing colours and sizes of plants will jump out at you when you visit a garden centre and these are generally annuals. When you visit the annuals section it is easier to imagine what can be achieved in your own garden and it is easy to get carried away with all the choice and colours. Annuals tend to be fresh from the garden, especially in larger garden centers, as they operate their own garden center nurseries supplying their own requirements as well as those of smaller retail locations in their area.
Of course, a garden center also showcases a large supporting cast of implements and tools of all descriptions, soil and gravel in bins, bags and bushel baskets, nutrients and fertilizers that somehow assist you in ensuring success in fulfilling the potential of each of the varieties of nature you ultimately choose to make the dream come true.
Patience, knowledge and a lot of practise will be needed if you are wanting to become a successful gardener, unfortunately it is not something that can be picked up overnight.
If you want to produce professional looking gardens then you will need a lot of experience and knowledge and there is no better places to help with this than reading a lot of garden related books and joining an online gardening forum. Experience through reading is one thing but nothing beats getting your hands dirty and experimenting in your garden on a nice fresh Spring day.
If you can combine everything you can pickup online, in books and at your local garden centre then you will have an excellent start in becoming an experienced gardener.
